The infant, who is believed to have fallen at the centre in Bandar Rahman Putra, is warded at Hospital Kuala Lumpur's intensive care unit for bleeding in the brain and a fractured skull.
Her father, Mohamad Amin Ahmad, 30, said Arissa regained consciousness about 2pm on Friday, shortly after doctors stopped inducing sleep medication on her.
"She is also able to move her hands and responds when we talk to her."
He said Arissa was still under close observation.
"We were told that the left side of Arissa's skull was fractured, while there was bleeding in her brain on the right side. The doctors said that the injuries could have been caused either as a result of falling from a certain height or a beating."
It was reported that Arissa, who had been under the care of the centre for just a month, was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital by her adopted mother before she was referred to KLH.
Arissa was adopted by Amin's sister Nazila, 33, and her husband Mohd Rahim Mohd Hashim, 42, who have no children.
Nazila had alleged that her adopted daughter could have been a victim of abuse by the babysitter.
Meanwhile, Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abdullah said police have recorded statements from six people, including Arissa's parents, the babysitter and several witnesses.
"The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. We are waiting for the victim's medical report before drawing any conclusion or making any decision to reclassify the case," he said, adding that the babysitter had also lodged a police report.
