KELANTAN could opt to register an entirely new squad of 30 players for the AFC Cup quarter-finals in their bid to become the first Malaysian club to win an Asian-level competition.

The east coast side have been drawn to play Iraq's Arbil in a two-leg quarter-final clash on Sept 18 and 25.
"We will look at all options to strengthen our squad ahead of the tie as Arbil, who are undefeated, are a good team," said Kelantan team manager Azman Ibrahim after the draw at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) headquarters in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
"One option is to sign players from teams who fail to qualify for the Malaysia Cup."
Kelantan are only the fourth Malaysian side to reach the quarter-finals after Selangor, Perak and Kedah since the inception of the competition in 2004.
Guinea's Keita Mandjou, who led Perak to the FA Cup in 2004, is Kelantan's latest foreign signing and he will arrive in Kota Baru next month to prepare for the AFC Cup.
If Kelantan beat Arbil, they will face either Thailand's Chonburi or Syria's Al Shorta in the semi-finals. By Ajitpal Singh
