SEGAMAT: A SENIOR citizen was killed execution-style by a gunman in a petrol station in Jalan Genuang, here, yesterday morning.
Segamat Chung Hua Sports Association chairman Lim Chin Hoon, 73, was killed on the spot after a gunman    fired six shots at him  at point-blank range.
Several of  the shots hit the victim in the head.
Lim, of Taman Segar in Kampung Abdullah here, was on his way to Kuala Lumpur when the incident occurred at 7.45am.
He had stopped at his regular petrol station to refuel his car   when two men wearing full-faced helmets  approached him on a motorcycle from behind.  The pillion rider got off  and opened fire before they fled towards town.
The shooting was captured on closed-circuit television cameras at the petrol station. The recordings were  handed to police to help  investigations.
Three workers at the station at the time of the incident  said the shooting was over within seconds.
District police chief Superintendent Hanafi Daud said they had ruled out robbery as a motive as no valuables were taken away from Lim, who   owned a hardware store.
Lim's second son, Jian Yoon, 37, said his father had been operating the hardware shop for many years and would go to work at 8am everyday.
"He told us that he was going out early today as he wanted to go to Kuala Lumpur.
" Shortly after he left,  we were informed about the shooting. When we reached the scene, he was already dead."
